Allie Mackey

Head Cheer Coach & Program Co-Advisor 

Assistant Stunt Coach

Allie Mackey graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a double Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Psychology in May 2016.  During her undergraduate career, Coach Mackey devoted her time as the Junior Varsity cheer coach at her Alma Mater, a member of the UC Irvine Spirit Squad, and was also a cheerleader at one of California’s most elite cheer teams - California All Stars.  In 2015 & 2016, she competed at the Cheerleading World Championships where she brought home a Bronze & Silver Medal with the California All Stars.  

Coach Mackey furthered her career path and completed her Master of Arts in Teaching with a Teaching Credential in Health Science and Physical Education at Brandman University.  Upon graduating from Brandman University in the Spring of 2021, Coach Mackey became an Educator who focused on Health, Physical Education, and Introductory Dance.  While navigating her role as a Teacher, Head Cheer Coach, and Program Advisor, she found the most rewarding role in these positions are being able to encourage and motivate learners into young adults who can overcome challenges, develop self-confidence, and discover their own inner strength at such a crucial time in their lives.  Coach Mackey helped her teams develop a growth-mindset while understanding the true value of perseverance and determination, both as a student and an athlete.  

With over 11 years of coaching experience under her belt, Coach Mackey was selected as the Head Coach and Co-Program Advisor for Vista Murrieta Cheer & Stunt in 2023.   As the Head Coach, she works to develop a culture of integrity and respect within VMHS Cheer and strives to help each member reach their highest potential.   Coach Mackey aims to foster an innovative and integral approach to Cheerleading while simultaneously creating an inclusive space for all students!

Claire Esteves

Head Stunt Coach & Program Co-Advisor

Claire Esteves, Head Stunt Coach and Co-Advisor, graduated from Vista Murrieta High School in 2011 and was a part of the cheer program for all 4 years of her high school experience. With a background in education and a deep-rooted connection to Vista Murrieta High School, Coach Esteves brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role.

As an alumna of Vista Murrieta High School, Coach Esteves has an intimate understanding of the school's spirit and culture. Her own high school journey ignited a love for cheerleading, which she has nurtured and shared with students since 2014 when she first began coaching cheer at VMHS.

Recognizing her passion lies in education, Coach Esteves pursued higher education to become a teacher. In 2019, she graduated from Western Governor's University with a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education and then went on to earn her Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in 2022.

Currently serving as an Education Specialist at VMHS, Coach Esteves has transitioned her coaching focus from Cheer to Stunt. Her dedication to her athletes is unparalleled, and she remains committed to providing a safe, inspiring, and challenging environment where they can flourish both athletically and personally. She instills in them a strong work ethic, resilience, teamwork, and self-confidence, all while building meaningful relationships along the way. 

Freshmen Cheer Coach & Assistant Stunt Coach

Ryann McDermott graduated from Vista Murrieta High School in 2017, and was a part of VMHS Cheer program for 4 years.  Coach Ryann cheered in both outside all-star programs and sideline programs, while volunteering as a youth cheer coach for both sideline and all-star cheerleading.  Coach Ryann continued to cheer through college for a total of 17 years of cheering!

Coach Ryann attended Concordia University, Irvine, where she received a cheer and Stunt scholarship.  In fact, she was the first person from Murrieta to sign to a Collegiate Stunt Team!  Coach Ryann graduated from CUI in May of 2021 with a Bachelors Degree in Biology, with a Minor in Nursing and Psychology.

Currently, Coach Ryann works as a DIS Aide at VMHS, and this will be the third year under her belt as a Coach.  Over the past couple of years, Coach Ryann continues to use her coaching experience as a Volunteer Coach in local cheer programs, while giving her cheerleading and coaching expertise to the local the middle school cheer teams in our area. Cheer has always been one of her passions and she loved her time at VMHS.  Coach Ryann wants to share her experience at Vista and her love for cheering with all our athletes!
